Before I began to study art in earnest, I felt I had everything stacked against me. Nevertheless I was determined to try.
Though I had the image of the house and tree in my head, and knew I wanted them of paper, I had no idea about the rest until I started.
I had carpal tunnel and polymyositis and could not paint with my right hand, but decided to give those flowers a try with my left because nothing else made sense. At the time, birds were my totem, so that just had to grow from my imagination, and the trail of thoughts symbolized my tamped down dreams coming to life.
When I finished I entered it into a juried show and was accepted. My dreams were heard, just as I determined.
I am co-founder and President Emeritus of The Rat Retreat, Inc. I love animals, particularly domestic rats, so they show up in a lot of my work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now, am southern US born and have lived in 7 states. I could easily pick up and move anywhere. I don't much care where I am as long as I can get near some water and am surrounded by trees, rats and birds. I graduated from WSU with a major in Communication and minor in Fine Art. I followed that with 2 more years of art courses at BSU and local small classes. Currently I am focused on Mixed Media Collage. Houses and rats are two current themes in my work.
