This is a marker painting of a rat from The Rat Retreat. Annie was a most joyful girl, answering the door when visitors or volunteer showed up. She passed away several years ago but has been memorialized in my art. 30 percent of any proceeds from this painting goes to The Rat Retreat.
About Dawn Boswell Burke
I am co-founder and President Emeritus of The Rat Retreat, Inc. I love animals, particularly domestic rats, so they show up in a lot of my work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now, am southern US born and have lived in 7 states. I could easily pick up and move anywhere. I don't much care where I am as long as I can get near some water and am surrounded by trees, rats and birds. I graduated from WSU with a major in Communication and minor in Fine Art. I followed that with 2 more years of art courses at BSU and local small classes. Currently I am focused on Mixed Media Collage. Houses and rats are two current themes in my work.
