My souvenirs from growing up were houses. By the time I went to high school, we had moved over 30 times. I remember layouts and yards of various houses---from a tree-filled piece of Southern woods, to the amount of light in each house, to the birds seen in the backyards. Some of my house memories, however, may have become mixed with images of the many books that kept me company in my youth. This series came from a collage of book houses and possibly real memories of places I lived.
I am co-founder and President Emeritus of The Rat Retreat, Inc. I love animals, particularly domestic rats, so they show up in a lot of my work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now, am southern US born and have lived in 7 states. I could easily pick up and move anywhere. I don't much care where I am as long as I can get near some water and am surrounded by trees, rats and birds. I graduated from WSU with a major in Communication and minor in Fine Art. I followed that with 2 more years of art courses at BSU and local small classes. Currently I am focused on Mixed Media Collage. Houses and rats are two current themes in my work.
