This print is based on a myth that I wrote. Who knows it may be true! Back before time began to be recorded rats ruled the world. Rats were the same size as humans and they were the healers. When a human was sick they would follow the signs to the healers’ cave. There the rats would lay hands on them and heal them.
This myth was based on my experience of having the pain of muscular dystrophy and fibromyalgia relieved by having rats walk on me. I would lie in the area where the rats played and as they climbed on me, my pain dissipated.
I am co-founder and President Emeritus of The Rat Retreat, Inc. I love animals, particularly domestic rats, so they show up in a lot of my work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now, am southern US born and have lived in 7 states. I could easily pick up and move anywhere. I don't much care where I am as long as I can get near some water and am surrounded by trees, rats and birds. I graduated from WSU with a major in Communication and minor in Fine Art. I followed that with 2 more years of art courses at BSU and local small classes. Currently I am focused on Mixed Media Collage. Houses and rats are two current themes in my work.
