Artist's Description

This is the first in my ongoing theme of rat royalty, starting with Healers. Here the beloved King Fredric is headed home, accompanied by his trusted butler (I think his name is Thomas). In the sky, you see that he has left night behind and is headed toward sunshine (must be around noon.) You are getting a glimpse of the Kings love of color and pattern in his clothing and luggage.

About Dawn Boswell Burke

Dawn Boswell Burke

I am co-founder and President Emeritus of The Rat Retreat, Inc. I love animals, particularly domestic rats, so they show up in a lot of my work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now, am southern US born and have lived in 7 states. I could easily pick up and move anywhere. I don't much care where I am as long as I can get near some water and am surrounded by trees, rats and birds. I graduated from WSU with a major in Communication and minor in Fine Art. I followed that with 2 more years of art courses at BSU and local small classes. Currently I am focused on Mixed Media Collage. Houses and rats are two current themes in my work.
