Following instructions in a book on dream analysis, I drew a mandala. I was trying to understand the source of the angry feelings I was having and this was supposed to help release the feelings. I became so angry during the drawing that I broke a marker on the surface and ended by tearing the paper. One of the torn scraps of paper was the imago for this piece. Holding this scrap (bottom center) I pulled fabric, papers, photographic images, text and symbols that felt tied to the scrap in some way. The intricate workings of our brains, our instincts and our dreams are an endless source of fascination to me.

I am co-founder and President Emeritus of The Rat Retreat, Inc. I love animals, particularly domestic rats, so they show up in a lot of my work. I live in the Pacific Northwest now, am southern US born and have lived in 7 states. I could easily pick up and move anywhere. I don't much care where I am as long as I can get near some water and am surrounded by trees, rats and birds. I graduated from WSU with a major in Communication and minor in Fine Art. I followed that with 2 more years of art courses at BSU and local small classes. Currently I am focused on Mixed Media Collage. Houses and rats are two current themes in my work.
